Unsold at IPL Auction, Martin Guptill Slams
Fastest
T20I Ton For New Zealand
Kiwi opner Martin
Guptill once again showed his hitting pwers in the shortest format of the game
as he slammed the fastest ton for New Zealanad in the fifth math of the Trans-
Tasman T20 tri-series against Australia in Auckland on Friday.
Guptill - who was
overlooked in the IPL 2018 Auction shoed what the franchises are missing as he
slammed a 49 ball ton against the mighty Aussies. By doing so, Guptill broke
Kiwi legend Brendon McCullum record of fastest T20 ton by a New Zealender
Also, this is Guptill’s
Second T20I ton and he has now joined some of the big names in the game to
score two or more centuries in the shortest format. Here is the list -
- Colin Munro : 3 Tons
- Chris Gayle : 2 Tons
- Bredon MacCulum : 2 Tons
- Evin Lewis : 2 Tons
- Rohit Sharma : 2 Tons
- Martin Gup : 2 Tons
During the course of
his innings, Guptill smashed nine Sixes and Six Fours, Rote to a ball 54 ball
on 105 Run. Within the help of his nine maximums, Guptill broke another
McCullum record as he took the top spot in the list of most sixes scored by a
Kiwi batsman in T20I .
The eight teams in the
IPL might be left thinking what could have been had they opted to buy one of
the top names in world cricket. Also, with a base prize of just Rs. 75 lakh, the
franchises missed a trick as this innings from the Kiwi star shows.
